Moderate

Cycle through lush banana and coffee villages, meet Chagga locals, and enjoy a traditional lunch with Mama Lisa before a relaxing downhill ride back to Moshi.

The Banana Villages Tour begins at the historic Kibosho Cathedral Church, perched in the lush foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro. From here, you’ll set off on a scenic cycling route that winds through more than four charming villages, each offering a glimpse into daily life in the fertile Chagga region. As you ride, you’ll pass through expansive banana and coffee farms, cross gently flowing rivers, and enjoy the cool mountain breeze while meeting friendly Chagga locals along the way.

Midday, you’ll arrive in Okaseni Village for a special cultural experience at Mama Lisa’s home. She’ll welcome you with warmth and teach you how to prepare traditional favorites like banana stew and ugali, giving you a hands-on taste of Chagga cuisine before serving a delicious lunch.

After your meal, the adventure continues with a relaxing downhill ride back toward Moshi, offering stunning views and a comfortable coast through the countryside. Covering 17 miles (28 km), this tour is suitable for most riders and takes about 5 hours, not including transportation. It’s the perfect blend of culture, scenery, and gentle adventure.
