Your adventure begins with a hotel pickup in Arusha or Moshi, followed by a scenic drive to Lake Chala—a stunning volcanic crater lake on the border of Kenya and Tanzania, east of Mount Kilimanjaro. Formed over 250,000 years ago, this hidden gem is fed by underground streams from Kilimanjaro’s forests and is home to the unique Lake Chala tilapia, found nowhere else on earth.  

Once at Lake Chala, you can choose your adventure: embark on a 2-3 hour hike to the famous border rock where you can stand with one foot in Kenya and the other in Tanzania. For a different perspective, paddle a kayak across the turquoise waters, exploring the crater’s dramatic cliffs and serene shoreline. Do one activity or combine both for the ultimate experience.  

A delicious lunch will be served in a scenic pavilion overlooking the lake—an unforgettable spot to relax and soak in the views before heading back.
